In this tutorial, we will take preparation to add a device to our Sixfab Connect Platform.

It is all about getting the Universally Unique Identifier (UUID).

NOTE: We will be calling is UUID in rest of our tutorials.

Get the UUID:

  1. Open your browser and go to

  2. Put your credential and login to the platform. (If you don’t have account create one)

  3. Once you login, you will be able to see the following page. Here, click the Add Device under Devices on the left side of you screen.

  1. This will bring you to the Device Adding Wizard. Here, you can give a name to your device to be deployed.

  1. Click next to select the Raspberry Pi model. From the dropdown list select the Raspberry Pi you are using. Then click Next.

  1. At the end, confirm your device name and Raspberry Pi.

  1. Once you confirm, it will provide you a UUID for the device. Click on COPY UUID OF DEVICE to copy it. You will need this ID in our initial setup of Raspberry Pi and Sixfab Shield/HAT.

With this device you will have a repo at git with the similar name as you device (‘demo’ in my case.)

Now we are ready our next step.
