This Quectel EC25 Mini PCIe is a series of LTE category 4 module adopting standard PCI Express® MiniCard form factor (Mini PCIe). It is optimized specially for M2M and IoT applications and delivers 150Mbps downlink and 50Mbps uplink data rates.

The module is backward-compatible with existing EDGE and GSM/GPRS networks, ensuring that it can be connected even in remote areas devoid of 4G or 3G coverage.

EC25 supports Qualcomm® IZat™ location technology Gen8C Lite (GPS, GLONASS, BeiDou, Galileo and QZSS). The integrated GNSS greatly simplifies product design and provides quicker, more accurate and more dependable positioning.

EC25 supports multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) technology, a cutting-edge antenna technology capable of transmitting multiple data streams on multiple transmitters to multiple receivers. The antennas at each end of the communication circuit are combined to minimize errors and optimize data speed. The module also combines high-speed wireless connectivity with embedded multi-constellation high-sensitivity GNSS receiver.

A rich set of Internet protocols, industry-standard interfaces and abundant functionalities (USB drivers for Windows XP, Windows Vista, Windows 7/8/8.1/10, Linux(Raspian), Android/eCall) extend the applicability of
the module to a wide range of M2M applications such as an industrial router, industrial PDA, rugged tablet PC, minicomputers like Raspberry Pi, video surveillance and digital signage.

You can easily insert a Mini PCIe module in Base HAT then start using cellular internet with your Raspberry Pi. Both UART and USB communication with modules are available.

Features like Voice call is not supported with Sixfab Base HAT due to the lack of Audio codec on the HAT.



EC25 antenna interfaces include a main antenna interface, an Rx-diversity antenna interface which is
used to resist the fall of signals caused by high-speed movement and multipath effect and a GNSS
antenna interface. The impedance of the antenna port is 50Ω.

For cellular connection, you’ll only need to connect an antenna to the main antenna port. To obtain better Rx-sensitivity and signal reception, we’d recommend an additional antenna to Rx-diversity antenna port. Rx-diversity function(ANT_DIV) is enabled by default.

All of the antenna connectors are ECT818000117. This is compatible with the Hirose U.FL(known by a variety of
names including AMC, UMCC, IPX) connectors. The recommended RF connector is UF.L-R-SMT.

    Why we need two antennas? Which two antennas?

      As two branches of LTE antenna, the main antenna is responsible for sending and receiving signals and the diversity antenna is only responsible for receiving signals. The multi-antenna technology (MIMO) has the ability to transmit high-speed data and resist interference in the future. So, the better receiving sensitivity, using RX-diversity antenna additional to the main antenna is highly recommended.

    There’s an antenna that comes in the same page of the 3G/4G-LTE shield, but I read about it , and it only supports 2G .

    Just got my self a EC25 Mini PCIe with a Raspberry Pi 3G-4G/LTE Base Shield V2. No problem communicate with through USB. But no response from the UART via the Rpi pin header what so ever (have tried connecting a terminal directly to the Rpi pin header UART pins and that works)

    Any ideas on how to get the UART work for AT commands?

    Bought the EC25-V for Verizon in the US. When I try to activate the IMEI with Verizon or several other carriers, they say the IMEI cannot be activated. It appears this module does not work in the US. Are there any other options?

      Temperature Range:
      Operation temperature range: -35°C ~ +75°C)(1)
      Extended temperature range: -40°C ~ +80°C)(2)

      1) Within operating temperature range, the module is 3GPP compliant.
      2) Within extended temperature range, the module remains the ability to establish and maintain a
      voice, SMS, data transmission, emergency call, etc. There is no unrecoverable malfunction; there are
      also no effects on radio spectrum and no harm to radio network. Only one or more parameters like
      Pout might reduce in their value and exceed the specified tolerances. When the temperature returns
      to normal operating temperature levels, the module is compliant with 3GPP specification again.
